Night of Horror

Role

Graphic Designer

Brand Identity and Print Material

Emerging filmmakers and horror fans, unite. Everyone remembers the first time a horror film gave them chills. This was the inspiration for the Night of Horror International Film Festival’s new identity. Working with Courier New, a typeface commonly used for writing screenplays in conjunction with the typewriter-inspired Olympia Congress, the new identity is a celebration of emerging filmmakers and the scriptwriting process- in which monsters are brought to life. Three chilling moments from iconic horror films ‘The Shining,’ ‘Poltergeist’ and ‘Jaws’ are championed throughout, combining infamous lines of script with imagery from the moment in which it is spoken. The well-recognized images are clawed away to not only reveal their humble beginnings but immerse the viewer in the moment, reminding them of both visuals and dialogue to trigger that adrenaline rush. Blood splatters sully each application, parchment, a violent red and devilish black combining to create a graphic language inspired by the films shown at the event. This is Night of Horror.

This project combined digital and analogue techniques to capture the physicality of the film’s violence.
