Vic Library Pictogram Series

These proposed pictograms can be used on the Library’s website on the category by theme sub-page. When the cursor hovers over the existing example image for each theme, the image will be covered by an opaque blue (the same shade that is already being used). Centered in this blue box sits that theme’s pictogram, signaling to the user instantly that there is more to see than this sole image. The friendly curves and simplistic design welcome the user to click it. Hovering across the screen also allows the user to experience the uniformity and beauty of each pictogram without clicking on each theme individually, increasing interactivity and user experience.

These pictograms can also be seen across the library to identify where each book theme is in the form of signage and wall art. Pictograms will be seen on the current signage in use, standing out to readers against the linear forms. The three-dimensional quality of the folded corner is a charming detail for the library’s target audience, creating a curve that salutes my designs.
